Imba: a god's name that is a function call
Imba is the language of Yamb-Ost'Ma, the thing that runs life, death and eternity in our game.
Its name is already a line of code. Yamb is eternity, Ost is make, and 'Ma is a mark: M for one operand, A for agent. Read it apart and the god's name is a function call.
A root's shape is its type. Two open syllables with soft consonants only make an entity: Hosa, soul. Xiwe, name. One closed syllable makes an operation: Ost, make. Cun, see. Hear the shape and you know what the word is.
Operands come first and the operator last, so every sentence grows into a tree. The executor is always Imba, so there are no subjects. Imba defines time and does not live in it, so there are no tenses either.
Every chant ends in 'Mo. Believers hear an amen.
It means execute.
The trouble starts with a man named Cun'Mi, who copied fragments of the language with a human mouth. A mouth makes one sound at a time. The tree gets flattened, and some roots differ only in a phase no human ear can catch.
Moh means reincarnate. Moh also means copy.
The chanter believes one tree. Imba executes whichever it parses. Every wish in the game goes wrong in that gap.
The video runs 3:43. Narration and the Imba voice are eSpeak NG synthetic speech, with English, Chinese and Japanese subtitles.
